Hi everyone! This is Joash here. From November 13 to 16 this year, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) in Indianapolis, USA. Thanks to a generous sponsorship, this experience was truly life-changing. I didn’t know what to expect at first, but from day 1 to day 4, I was completely overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of events, performances, and activities revolving around drums and percussion at this convention.
It felt like a whole new world opened up for me – not just in drumming but also in my career. I had the privilege of meeting amazing musicians, artists, artist relations representative, and drummers from all over the world. I made valuable connections, exchanged contact and social media handles, and even got to interact with all the major drum brands I could think of at the Expo Hall.
Beyond the network and inspiration, the event deepened my passion for drumming and gave me a clearer vision of where I want to go in my journey as a musician. PASIC was not just an event; it was a turning point. Can’t wait to attend next year PASIC 2025 as it’s going to be PASIC’s 50th birthday.
Thank you CK and Drum Tutor Singapore for this amazing opportunity. Extremely grateful!
I will be writing a series of blogs for my entire trip starting from day 1 of PASIC. Hope you enjoy it!
DAY 1
I stayed at Holiday Inn Indianapolis Downtown, an IHG hotel. It’s a 3 star property, which was decent for my 4-night stay. It’s conveniently located near the convention center, just a 5-minute Uber ride or 7-minute walk away.
The hotel breakfasts were fairly consistent throughout my stay, as I had most of my meals there.

Antonio Sanchez & Bad Hombre
I had the privilege of attending a spectacular concert by Antonio Sanchez and his band. The arrangements and musicianship were on an entirely different level in so many ways.
Also, I never had this many drum and educational goodies before, it felt like being a kid again!
And that was it for day 1! Stay tuned for day 2 blog of PASIC 2024!
